Anxiety Therapy
Anxiety can make life feel smaller. You might be constantly worrying, avoiding situations that feel difficult, or finding that your mind never really switches off.
I offer anxiety therapy in Cambridge and online for adults and young people. Together, we can make sense of what is driving your anxiety and find ways to manage it that feel realistic for you.
Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by racing thoughts, low mood, or a sense that they cannot relax. For young people, social anxiety can be especially difficult, particularly when school, college or university already feels demanding.
Anxiety often pulls us towards worst-case thinking. A small worry can quickly become a long chain of “what ifs”, making it difficult to sleep, make decisions or feel present in the moment.
How anxiety can feel
Anxiety can make everyday life feel exhausting. You may find yourself stuck in a loop of overthinking, imagining the worst possible outcome, or feeling unable to switch your mind off at night.
It can also show up physically: a fast heartbeat, nausea, muscle tension, panic attacks, or feeling hot and on edge. Sometimes anxiety leads people to withdraw from others, avoid situations they would usually enjoy, or spend so much energy people-pleasing that there is little left for themselves.
My approach to anxiety therapy
My work is person-centred, which means we begin with what feels most important to you. We can explore what your anxiety is trying to tell you, identify possible triggers, and find coping strategies that genuinely work for your life.
Rather than trying to fight or push away the feeling, therapy can help you notice it: “Right now, I am anxious.” From there, we can gently explore what is underneath it and learn how to sit with uncomfortable feelings without letting them take over.
Where helpful, I use CBT-informed techniques to look at unhelpful thought patterns and reframe “what if” thinking. I also draw on psychosynthesis and mindfulness to pay attention to what anxiety feels like in the body.
What sessions look like
Sessions are a space to talk openly about what has been happening for you, at your own pace. We may look back over the week together, notice moments when anxiety felt particularly high, and explore what may have contributed to them.
We can work on practical coping techniques for overwhelming moments, while also making space to understand the deeper patterns behind your anxiety. There is no expectation to fix everything at once. Small steps matter, and change usually takes time.
Who I Work With
I work with young people and adults experiencing anxiety at different stages of life. This may include general anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, persistent worry, overthinking, or anxiety alongside low mood.
For young people in particular, anxiety can make education and social situations feel especially difficult. Therapy offers a space to talk openly about those experiences, without judgement or pressure to have all the answers.
Sessions are available online across the UK and through walk and talk therapy in Cambridgeshire.
Experience & Professional Background
Over the last four years, I have worked with clients across schools, universities, charities and private practice. Much of this work has involved supporting people with anxiety, low mood, trauma, self-harm, grief and relationship difficulties.
I have particular experience of working with young people and university students, including those struggling with social anxiety and the pressures that can come with education.
